BETTY ELNER PIEPER

Betty Elner Pieper went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2018 at the Simpson Health Center.

Funeral services honoring her life will take place Monday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Nicholas Thackery officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Betty Elner Reimers was born on October 18, 1925 to Arthur and Thelma (Lindsey) Reimers in rural Woolstock, Iowa. She moved to the Vincent area at an early age and attended school in Colfax Township. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1944. Upon graduation, she was employed as a secretary at Tobin Packing Company.

She married Curtis A. Pieper on June 2, 1945 while he was serving in the military at Scott Field Air Base in Belleville, Illinois. Betty was employed at Scott Field as a typist. After Curtis received honorable discharge from the service, they resided in Fort Dodge. She then worked for twenty years at George A. Hormel Company and for ten years at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandson. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Survivors include children Rick Pieper (Lorie Spanjers) and Shelley (Mike) Kopp of Fort Dodge; grandchildren Courtney Kopp and Kyle Kopp; one great-grandson Austin Curtis Jaeschke all of Fort Dodge; siblings Norma Lundgren of Urbandale and Jack (Sheryl) Reimers of Renwick. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Curtis, parents, sister Joyce Denker and brother Arthur Reimers Jr. as well as many special nieces and nephews.
