MARLYS KINGSBURY

Marlys Kingsbury, 93, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Simpson Health Center of Friendship Haven. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Tompkins Celebration Center of Friendship Haven with Rev. Nicholas Thackery officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Marlys Kingsbury, the daughter of Clarence and Ellen (Eck) Kingsbury was born on May 9, 1924 in Waterloo, IA. She graduated from high school in Waterloo. On January 26, 1943, Marlys was united in marriage to Ralph Kingsbury while in port in Miami, FL. Ralph served in the Navy during both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters receiving his honorable discharge on November 12, 1945. After his discharge Ralph and Marlys lived in Waterloo where Ralph worked for the Illinois Central Railroad until his retirement in 1978. In 1972, they moved to Fort Dodge and in February of 2011 the couple moved to Friendship Haven. Marlys cherished her friends at Friendship Haven.

Marlys was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.

Survivors include her daughters; Diane Richardson of Lena, IL, Connie (Paul) Hay of West Burlington, IA and Carol (Louis) Eastwood of Jeffers, MN; 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Ralph, her husband of 75 years, her parents, a son Dennis Kingsbury, her brothers Herbert Jack and Clarence Jr. and her son-in-law Gary Richardson.
