Ursula M. Condon Newkirk, 77, of Fort Dodge passed away Fri­day, Aug­ust 25, 2017 at the Paula J. Ba­ber Hos­pice Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Laufer­sweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart, the Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Patrick Behm, officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home with a Rosary at 4:00 PM and a Vigil beginning at 6:00 PM all at the funeral home.

Ursula is survived by her husband, John Newkirk of Fort Dodge; step sons, Joe Newkirk (Jennifer) of Fort Dodge and John Newkirk Jr. of Des Moines; step grandchildren, Carson and Nick Newkirk; Isaiah Newkirk; Mary Nelson; Missy and Michael Wirth; sister, Betty Odello (Bob) of Calabasas, CA; brother, Mike Condon (Mary Ellen) of Denver, CO; sister, Ellen Sauer (Tony) of Calmar; sister, Margaret Ann Landis (Bill) of Grand Island, NE; sister, Denice Condon of Columbus, NE; sister-in-law, Lisa Condon of Fort Dodge; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Margaret (Mallinger) Condon; brother, Terry Condon; and step daughter, Maggie Wirth.

Ursula M. Condon was born August 10, 1940 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Clare, graduating from St. Matthew’s. She continued her education at Clarke College in Dubuque, receiving her BA and Masters degrees. Ursula taught and held several administrative positions with the Catholic School Systems, including the position of Principal in Fort Dodge for 8 years and the relocating to the Twin Cities area where she held an administrative position until semi retiring in 2002. She then moved back to Fort Dodge and continued to substitute teach. On January 14, 2011, she was united in marriage to John Newkirk, Sr. at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Dodge. Ursula served on various educational committee’s including conducting In-service and training in the educational field. She served as a lector and was on the Communion committee through Holy Trinity Parish and also served on the YWCA Board.

Memorials can be left to Sacred Heart Church or to Hospice of Fort Dodge.
