Funeral Services for James F. Scott 88 of Fort Dodge will be Thurs­day, Aug­ust 31, 2017 at 10:30 at the Friend­ship Haven Celebra­tion Center in Fort Dodge. Inter­ment at North Lawn Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Iowa National Guard and the Fort Dodge V.F.W. Post 1856. Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to services at the Celebration Center.

James Frederick Scott was born May 3, 1929 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to James and Laura Bell (Crouse) Scott. He attended Fort Dodge Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Velma Jean Wildt on December 25, 1949. Jim served in the Iowa National Guard from 1947 through 1953. Jim worked various jobs through out his career. He worked at Carnation, Griffith’s Architectural Firm, and Tractor Supply. He served as Webster County Drainage Commissioner for several years. Jim also owned and operated his own shoe repair including Modern Shoe Repair in Sac City and Fort Dodge. He attended Church of God in Fort Dodge

Jim’s hobbies included traveling, taking many bus tours to Branson and other places. He loved taking in plays and shows. He sang in Barbershop Quartets in his younger years. Bowling was one of his favorite pastimes, winning the Gold Medal three times at the Iowa Games. He enjoyed gardening. When he was 71 years old he even sky dived. Jim thoroughly enjoyed the various activities with the staff and residents at Friendship Haven. They truly became an extension of his family.

Jim is survived by his daughters; Pam Studebaker of Jesup, Iowa, Marcia Hill of Clinton, Iowa, and Shelia Wurr of Breda, Iowa. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, wife Velma in 1998, son Rickey, and granddaughter JoLynn.
