MANSON — Steven Sweet, 72, died on Sun. July 16, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Thurs. July 20 at 10:30 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at Palmer. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Wed. at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson with a rosary at 4 p.m. at a prayer vigil at 7 p.m.

Steven Ronald Sweet was born Oct. 29, 1944, at home in Pocahontas County, IA, the son of Leo and Charlotte (Engel) Sweet. He graduated from Manson High School in 1962 and joined the U. S. Air Guard while farming with his Dad. He continued farming after his Dad’s death in 1978, and moved with his family into Manson in 1995. After moving into Manson he was employed by the City as Park Maintenance. He was united in marriage with Betty Alig on Dec. 18, 1976, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson.

Steve is survived by his wife Betty; daughters Abby (Brandon) Schmitz of Cumming, IA; Amy Sweet of Chicago, IL; son Daniel Sweet of Brandon, FL; three grandchildren; brother Adelbert “Bob” Sweet of Rolfe, IA; sisters Sally (Daryle) Butcher of Palmer, IA; and Gloria Brekke of Mason City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis, sister-in-law Mary Sweet and brother-in-law Roger Brekke.
