ROGER C. SNYDER

LANESBORO – Roger C. Snyder, 84, died Monday, April 27, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Lanesboro United Methodist Church in Lanesboro with Rev. Sue Thomas officiating and burial in the Lanesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Roger Clark Snyder was born on June 1, 1930 at the family farm in rural Lanesboro to Clark and Ida Pearl (Green) Snyder. He was born in, lived in, and raised his own family in the same home for 84 years. Roger graduated from Lake City High School in 1948.On November 26, 1960 Roger married Janet Mohr at the Lanesboro United Methodist Church.

Roger made his living farming his family farm and custom farming for others and he was proud to receive the Century Farm recognition in 2012. Roger was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, attending his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities through the years, telling stories, and singing for church, school, FFA choir, weddings, funerals, and anniversaries.

Roger is survived by his wife Jan Snyder; daughters Monita (Steve) Kelly, Rhonda (Philip) Sommerfeld, and Sondra (Kent) Hovey; son Duane “Dewey” (Jennifer) Snyder; grandchildren Pam Reece, Nicole Kelly, Jeromy Sommerfeld, Kelsey Bachman, Brett Sommerfeld, Danielle Sommerfeld, Brad Hovey, Lane Hovey, Kyle Hovey, Morgan Snyder and Joe Snyder; and 11 great-grandchildren; and many other special family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Clark and Ida Pearl Snyder; parents-in-law, Lester and Dorothy Mohr; great-granddaughter Elizabeth Rose Sommerfeld;and sisters Lucille (Virgil) Pankey, LaVonne (Short) Johnson, and Wanda (Rich) Rasty.
