Sheriff’s Office seeks help

in rash of rural burglaries

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in solving a rash of rural car burglaries.

Following vehicle break-ins across Webster and Calhoun counties in Gowrie, Callender, Barnum, Clare and Knierim, the Sheriff’s Office asks residents to report any suspicious activity or vehicles they saw during the early morning hours. Burglaries happened on the following dates:

• Gowrie: Sunday

• Callender: Tuesday

• Barnum: Wednesday

• Clare: Wednesday

• Knierim: Tuesday and Thursday

Any private surveillance video that may have recorded a suspect vehicle would help with investigations, the office said in a statement.

Those with information to report or surveillance video to submit can call the Sheriff’s Office at 515-573-2323, or Webster County Crime Stoppers at 800-542-9702.

The Sheriff’s Office advises the public to keep vehicles locked at all times, even when parked inside a garage. Several burglaries involved perpetrators entering the garage to get to the car.
