Man accused of strangling two kids

A Fort Dodge man has been charged with two felonies after he allegedly put his hands around the necks of two children.

Anthony D. Essing, 29, 311 Ave. D, has been charged with two counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury.

It’s alleged that on Monday Essing put his hand around the neck of a 13-year-old and a 2-year-old child.

“This act was intended to temporarily obstruct the child’s air way, also known as strangulation,” the criminal complaints against Essing stated. “The child’s neck also had visible bruising and markings from the defendant’s hand.”

At his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Tuesday, Magistrate Steve Kersten allowed Essing to be released with supervision to the Department of Adult Corrections. Kersten also issued a no-contact order between Essing and the two children.

Essing’s case was sent to Webster County District Court.

FD man sent to federal prison

SIOUX CITY – A man who pleaded guilty to charges of manufacturing methamphetamine has been sentenced to federal prison.

Randy Feauto, 31, of Fort Dodge, was sentenced to 11 years in prison on Thursday.

Feauto had pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession of a firearm as a felon, according to the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Iowa.

He admitted that from 2009 through September 2012, he was involved in a conspiracy to manufacture and distribute 50 grams or more of pure meth in the Fort Dodge area. Feauto also admitted that while participating in the drug trafficking, he had a handgun with him.

A search warrant conducted at Feauto’s home on Aug. 17, 2012, found the gun, marijuana, digital scales and a cutting agent for meth known as MSM.
