FD residents reminded of snow route rules

A winter storm watch beginning at 9 a.m. today has been issued for Fort Dodge and Webster County. Heavy snow is possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are possible with locally higher amounts possible from Friday morning into late Friday night.

Fort Dodge residents are reminded that a parking prohibition will automatically go into effect on all residential emergency snow routes at such time total snow accumulation reaches 2 inches. The parking prohibition will be in effect for 24 hours from the start of the prohibition. Vehicles parked along the emergency routes may be towed. To view a map of all emergency snow routes, please visit the city’s webpage at https://www.fortdodgeiowa.org.

Residents who are not on a snow route are asked to park their vehicles off the street if possible. During snow removal operations, people may park across a sidewalk or in the right-of-way until snow has been cleared. Snow removal crews will not plow roads they cannot safely maneuver.
