The third time was the charm for one Fort Dodge man who won a $100,000 lottery prize from a scratch-off crossword game recently.

Harold Hinds, 80, told the Iowa Lottery that he had recently made his usual stop for coffee and a scratch-off ticket. When his ticket won him $10, he took it back to the store to redeem his prize and buy another ticket.

The second ticket earned Hinds another $30, so he decided to try his luck one more time and bought an Iowa Lottery Mega Crossword game ticket.

This ticket was the big winner, nabbing Hinds the top prize of $100,000. Hinds is the 15th top prize winner for this game, and according to the Iowa Lottery, there are 10 more top prizes available.

Hinds said he and his wife plan to use his winnings on home repairs and maybe even a new car.
