Hy-Vee, Walmart to reserve shopping time for people at risk

Hy-Vee stores announced on Wednesday that it will be reserving one hour of shopping time prior to its new opening time each day for customers considered “high-risk.”

From 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., seven days a week, shoppers ages 60 and older, expectant mothers and those with an underlying health condition that makes them more susceptible to serious illness are welcomed to shop.

The general public is asked to limit their shopping to Hy-Vee’s new store hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Also on Wednesday, Walmart announced that its stores will adjust to daily operating hours from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Walmart also said that from March 24 through April 28, its stores will host an hour-long senior shopping time every Tuesday for customers aged 60 and older, which will start one hour before the store opens.
