Volunteers sought for Brushy Creek Honor Flight Band

The Brushy Creek Honor Flight Band, which is comprised of volunteers of all ages and musical abilities, will play Saturday evening as area veterans arrive back at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport following the veterans’ journey to Washington, D.C.

The Brushy Creek Honor Flight Band, under the direction of Paul Bloomquist, will begin playing at approximately 9:30 pm Saturday. It will play a variety of musical pieces while family and friends await their veteran’s return. The band will then play “The Star Spangled Banner” as the plane lands and as the doors to the airplane open.

If you would like to play in the Brushy Creek Honor Flight Band, arrive to the south door of the terminal (the corporate jet area) and leave your cases and coats in this area.

There is no formal uniform for volunteers who would like to play in the band, however, red, white, and blue is acceptable. Band members should dress according to the weather. Music will be provided, but band members should bring a stand light, if they have one.

For more information, text or call Paul Bloomquist at 515-571-4539 or email at bloomquist@iowacentral.edu.
