Webster County buys equipment

Webster County’s road crews will get a new Caterpillar all-wheel drive motor grader after the Board of Supervisors approved the purchase Tuesday morning.

The grader will replace a 2003 John Deere model, Webster County Engineer Randy Will said.

The new grader will be purchased from Ziegler Caterpillar in Fort Dodge for $345,335.

That will be $302,335 total after trade-in of the old machine, Will said.

Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co., of Fort Dodge, also submitted a proposal to provide a new John Deere, at a total cost of $286,900

The supervisors heard that Iowa Department of Transportation road work outside the county will result in a temporary detour on county roads.

Work will be done to complete a bridge deck overlay on Iowa Highway 4 about three miles south of Iowa Highway 175. Traffic will detour onto Webster County Road P29 from the Greene County line north to Highway 175.
