Haz Mat commission audit released

An audit of the Region V Hazardous Materials Response Commission has been released by Schnurr & Co. LLP.

The commission is the governing body for the hazardous materials response team operated by the Fort Dodge Fire Department. The team serves Calhoun, Carroll, Greene, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Sac, Webster and Wright counties. It’s made up of firefighters trained to handle chemical spills and leaks.

The auditors reported that the commission’s primary government operating revenues totaled $232,417 for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2018. That’s an 11.57 percent decrease from the prior year.

Operating expenses for the year totaled $235,642, according to the auditors. That’s a 5.12 percent increase from the prior fiscal year.
