Webster City aids Hamilton County after shed fire

WEBSTER CITY — The city of Webster City is loaning some equipment to the county after a costly early morning fire that engulfed a Hamilton County maintenance shed.

Ken Wetlzer, the city’s public works director, reported during Monday’s City Council meeting, that the city would be helping the county.

“The county experienced a severe fire and we have been in talks with the county engineer,” Wetzler said. “Whatever she needed we would help them out the best we can.”

Nicole Stinn, Hamilton County engineer, reported on Sunday that two plow trucks and seven pickup trucks were a total loss.

“So far they have requested two vehicles,” Wetzler said. “We have provided them with two vehicles.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office.
