Man who stopped kids not charged

SCHALLER – A man who approached two children and asked if they wanted to see a puppy Wednesday will not face any charges.

Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure said the man, who he only identified as being 51 years old, did not have “malicious intent” when he approached the two children.

The man, who was driving a white pickup truck, approached a teenage girl and her little brother in Schaller early Wednesday afternoon and asked if they wanted to see his puppy. The children said no and walked in the opposite direction.

The man left the area, according to McClure.

He added that parents should remind their children about stranger danger “and what to do if a stranger approaches them and offers them a ride, candy or to see a pet.”
