chool district worker accused of stealing

WELLMAN (AP) – A former business manager for an Iowa school district has been accused of stealing about $8,000 through an employee credit card.

The Mid-Prairie School District said Cindy Steege, of North Liberty, faces second-degree theft charges in connection to unauthorized charges on the card.

School officials said they contacted authorities in late June after finding possible financial irregularities and conducting an internal investigation.

The state auditor’s office is investigating the case, as well as Steege’s involvement as a business manager for another school district.
