Veterans Appreciation Concert is June 28

HUMBOLDT Country singer Ricky Lynn Gregg will perform at a free June 28 concert in Humboldt to benefit veterans.

The Veterans Appreciation Concert will be held at Joe Sheldon Park. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m.

An opening ceremony will be held at 6 p.m.

In addition to Gregg, the scheduled performers include the Brass 5, which is part of the 34th Army Band; and Ken Kugel and the Mud Puppies, a band from Iowa Falls.

Gregg, a former member of the band Head East, was the opening act for George Jones and Charlie Daniels. He performed at the Laramar Ballroom in Fort Dodge about 20 years ago, according to Dwight Lindquist, a Navy veteran from Fort Dodge who organized the concert.

Lindquist said other attractions at the concert will include a beer garden operated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Humboldt and a rock climbing wall provided by the Iowa Army National Guard.

All profits generated by the event will be given to the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund and the Disabled American Veterans, according to Lindquist.
