County nominations open Monday

Monday is the first day for Democratic and Republican candidates to file nomination petitions for Webster County offices.

Petitions must be filed in the county auditor’s office by March 26.

Candidates for county attorney, recorder or treasurer must have a minimum of 100 signatures.

For county supervisor district 1, the number of signatures for Democratic candidates is 39 and for Republican candidates is 43. District 1 is the northwest portion of the county, including the following precincts: Cooper, Newark, Colfax/Duncombe, Washington and precincts 2 and 11 in the city of Fort Dodge.

Keith Dencklau, a Republican, is the current District 1 supervisor.

For county supervisor district 4, the number of signatures for Democratic candidates is 35 and for Republican candidates is 23. District 4 includes precincts 1, 3, 6, and 7 in the city of Fort Dodge.

Merrill Leffler, a Republican, is the district 4 supervisor.
