Sac Conservation to host Halloween hike

SAC CITY – The Sac County Conservation Board annual pumpkin carving contest is Friday.

Carving begins at 6 p.m. at the shop building at Hagge Park. Contestants will have one hour to carve their pumpkin. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories. Contestants should bring a pumpkin and carving utensils.

The board’s annual Halloween Night Hike is Oct. 19 at Hagge Park, south of Sac City. Rain date will be Oct. 20. This year’s theme is Dr. Seuss. The hike will last about an hour and is a mile long in wooded terrain.

Reservations are recommended. The first hike begins at 6 p.m, the last at 9 p.m.

The hikes are designed to be fun and informational, not scary. For reservations or information, call the SCCB, 662-4530.
