The Rev. Nicholas Thackery, a pastor of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod recently accepted the call as pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and will be installed at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the church.

Thackery started out his academic career which led to his ordination through North Iowa Community College and then moved on to Buena Vista where he received his bachelor’s degree in Human Services/Counseling.

As he was finishing his last year at Buena Vista he met his wife Michele. They were married on May 14, 2005, and that fall they were off to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to begin their adventure at Concordia Theological Seminary. During the four educational and fun years at the seminary there was lots of excitement including a yearlong vicarage in Fresno, California, where their first child Kylee was born in July 2008.

Thackery finished up his fourth year back at the seminary and graduated in May 2009. He was called to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg and Peace Lutheran Church in West Bend.

The couple also expanded their family with Noah who was born in June 2010 and Addison who was born in July 2013. The family continues to grow in God’s word and enjoys activities outdoors, and spending time with one another watching movies or reading books.
