FD man arrested following burglary investigations

Several local, state and federal law enforcement agencies collaborated to investigate a pair of burglaries in rural Webster County this month.

According to a press release from the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to burglaries at two different residences near Brushy Creek State Recreation Area on Jan. 11 and Jan. 13.

At the Jan. 11 burglary, jewelry, firearms and a coin collection were reported stolen.

At the Jan. 13 burglary, firearms and documents were taken from the residence.

The investigation by deputies and detectives with the WCSO connected the burglaries to a Stratford residence.

On Wednesday, the WCSO, joined by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, U.S. Marshals’ North Iowa Fugitive Task Force and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, executed a search warrant at 1109 Ross Ave. in Stratford.

During the search, detectives seized multiple items, including stolen property and illegal narcotics.

Following the search, the North Iowa Fugitive Task Force arrested 44-year-old Michael Ackerson, of Fort Dodge, for violation of supervised release and felony escape from custody. Ackerson is being held by the U.S. Marshals with no bond.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
