Feenstra votes no on budget

Calling it a “monstrosity” U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra voted against the roughly $1.7 trillion budget approved by the House of Representatives Friday.

“The 4,155 page, $1.66 trillion omnibus spending package continues Congress’ sorry tradition of reckless spending and government waste,” Feenstra, R-Hull, said in a written statement.

Feenstra represents Webster County and all of its surrounding counties.

“As a fiscal conservative, I will not support legislation that fuels inflation, adds to our growing $31 trillion debt and wastes taxpayer dollars,” Feenstra said. “Iowans deserve better than Washington’s broken budget process.”

The House approval on Friday sends the budget to President Joe Biden.

Iowa’s United States senators, Republicans Joni Ernst and Charles Grassley, voted against the budget in the Senate on Thursday.
