Getting to know our teachers — Kaden Peterson
Where do you teach? FDSH
What grade/subject do you teach? 9-12 Grade Automotive Classes
Why do you teach?
To show our students there are opportunities outside of four-year schools with great pay and steady work. Even as more and more cars become electric, we’ll still need qualified technicians to repair them.
What is your favorite part of the school day?
Lunch. Can’t beat a turkey sandwich and catching up with my colleagues.
What are you working hardest on right now?
Mainly my master’s degree. The work piles up quickly if you don’t stay on top of it.
What are you most proud of as a teacher?
Watching students succeed at a new task they’ve never done before, or seeing them help each other in the shop.
What makes you the happiest as a teacher?
That moment of “eureka” where what we discussed in the classroom and what we’re doing in the shop click together and students really get it.
How do you contribute to/how are you involved in our community outside of school?
I’m hoping to start doing some coaching soon!
What are your interests/hobbies outside of school?
I fish almost year round, play a lot of golf, and enjoy time with family and friends.
What do you wish your students/families knew about you?
Never hesitate to reach out for anything. Whether you’ve got a dead battery and need a jump in the parking lot or a question about what your children are learning, let me know!
What does Together We Rise mean to you?
That we as Dodgers can make the seemingly impossible happen if we make it our goal. We got through COVID together, so we can do it all.
