Fort Dodge man accused of sexual abuse

A Fort Dodge man is being held at the Webster County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond after being charged with one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony.

Zachary Ray Orth, 28, of Fort Dodge, is accused of having inappropriate genital contact with a child under the age of 12 on at least four separate occasions over the last year.

According to the criminal complaint, the child’s mother took the child to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center last month, where the child reported the sexual abuse and police were dispatched.

On Friday, officers interviewed Orth about the accusations, and Orth allegedly acknowledged “touching and rubbing” the child’s genital area at least four different times. Orth was arrested and had his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on Saturday morning.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 9.
