Emma Alstott was the 2021-2022 Catholic Daughters of Americas Leadership Award winner. A St. Edmond senior, Alstott was honored alongside her parents, Josephine and Sean Alstott.

Emma Alstott called being named the 2021-2022 Catholic Daughters of Americas Court No. 216 Leadership Award winner “humbling.”

Alstott, though, displayed all the key traits the award represents.

“I was so humbled to receive this award,” Alstott said. “I was not quite sure what to expect with all the other amazing applicants. I am so honored that the committee thought I was the best fit for the award.”

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court No. 216 Leadership Award was previously called the Business and Professional Women’s Club Award.

It is presented yearly to a senior female at St. Edmond who has displayed academic excellence in proportion to her ability, good citizenship in school and community, and participation and service in school and community activities.

“This award has such a strong tradition at St. Edmond and I feel honored to be part of that legacy,” she said. “I am also especially grateful for the scholarship attached with it this year. It is such a blessing to have some of the financial burdens of college be relieved.”

In the fall, Alstott will be attending Iowa State University to pursue majors in agronomy and global resource systems with a minor in Spanish.

Clare Conrad, Mya McClain, Gracie Harvey, and Aleah Anderson were the other nominees.
