A professor at the University of Northern Iowa has been named the interim superintendent of the Fort Dodge Community School District.

Dr. Denise Schares will begin her duties on July 1, after the departure of current FDCSD Superintendent Derrick Joel.

Three other candidates were considered for the interim position.
