Pursuit ends without arrest

Driver fled on foot into the woods

A suspect driving a Toyota Sequoia eluded police on Friday, according to Lt. Donald McClaren, of the Fort Dodge Police Department.

An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop at about 1:30 p.m. McClaren said the officer tried to stop the driver for tinted windows and not having a valid driver’s license.

The officer attempted to pull the driver over near First Avenue South and Eighth Street.

Rather than stopping, the driver continued in the vehicle west out of the city. The driver continued to the 1900 block of Nicole Road.

Next, the driver got out and fled on foot into the woods.

“We tried to track him down through the woods and couldn’t find him,” McClaren said.

McClaren said the chase lasted about five minutes.
