Saturday evening at Fort Frenzy will be full of games, good food, music and fun, all in support of the Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation.

Go Big, Go Dodgers returns from 6 to 10 p.m. at Fort Frenzy. Foundation Director Nik Moser said, “The money raised from the event goes towards teacher grants for items that are not in the district’s general budget.”

Director of Communications and Community Relations for Fort Dodge Community School District Jennifer Lane said in the last year the foundation has put $130,000 into the schools for things like programmable robots, math and literacy initiatives, and industrial technology equipment. The foundation’s website also lists that they have helped fund the Leader In Me program, video and audio equipment, and hydroponic gardens.

Moser said in the past school year, the foundation was able to approve $127,000 in grant requests from teachers and those grants benefited students in every building in the district. “We would not be able to accomplish such a feat without supporters,” Moser said.

This event was very successful last year but Moser said they hope to raise even more this year.

“Last year the event raised $83K, the goal for this year is $150K,” Moser said

The event is open to the public and Moser said there will be games, a live and a silent auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and live music. Local band Lone Tree Revival will be performing live during the event. Event goers are encouraged to wear Dodger gear.

Some of the live auction items include auto detailing packages, a Dodger metal bench, a seat on the Brushy Creek Honor Flight, a Dodger Football experience, a $1,000 scholarship to Iowa Central Community College, a chance to ride to school in a police car or fire truck, and much more.

Tickets are $40 but district employees will receive a discounted price. Tickets can be purchased through the Venmo app to @FDCS-Foundation or at the foundation’s website: fdcsfoundation.org.

The foundation also offers an opportunity to be a sponsor at several different levels for the event and more information can be found on their website. The minimal fiscal donation to become a sponsor is $350 at Bronze Level. There are four levels of increasing donation amounts and each level includes several tickets to the event.
