Touch a Truck event held in Lake City

Board members and volunteers with Central School Preservation in Lake City enjoy finding innovative ways to connect younger generations with Central School, the local museum that’s housed in a former elementary school built in 1884. A new event for 2021 was Touch a Truck, where people of all ages could get a close-up look at heavy equipment from the city of Lake City, fire trucks from the Lake City Fire Department, cars from Smith Racing of Lake City, a John Deere tractor, the Iowa Corn car, the Lake City Police Department’s truck, a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department car, and an Iowa State Patrol car. The event attracted more than 100 people on Tuesday afternoon.
