At 11:41 a.m. Sunday, a passer-by reported a structure fire in the area of Eighth Avenue South and 27th Street. Fort Dodge Fire and EMS arrived to find a trailer home in Lot 27 in flames and engulfed in smoke. Fire crews extinguished the interior flames, preventing it from spreading to nearby trailer homes. The property was searched, and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The trailer sustained major damages and was declared a total loss. The owner of the property is listed as James Olchefski. Fort Dodge Fire Rescue was assisted by Fort Dodge Police Department and MidAmerican Energy.
