FD police investigating shots fired

The Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating an early morning incident involving shots fired in the area of Ninth Avenue Southwest and 10th Street Southwest.

According to a release from the department, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call about multiple shots fired and vehicles fleeing the area at 12:40 a.m. on Friday.

As officers were responding, they found a vehicle on the 10 block of South First Street that had damage consistent with being shot at.

At the intersection of Ninth Avenue Southwest and 10th Street Southwest, officers found evidence of multiple shots being fired and another vehicle that had been damaged.

No injuries have been reported as of 10 a.m. on Friday.

After talking with nearby residents, FDPD said it appears that one or more individuals fired multiple shots in the direction of an occupied vehicle, after which both vehicles fled the area.

The FDPD is continuing to investigate the incident and asks that anyone with information contact the department at 515-573-1424.
