MANSON — An investigation is underway after 154 gallons of gas was spilled out of a pump at a convenience store in Manson on Friday night, according to Gerald Frick, Manson police chief.

The spill was reported at about 6 p.m. at Cubby’s, 1302 First Ave. N.

Responding firefighters successfully absorbed the fuel, said Dave Anderson, Manson assistant fire chief.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were on scene for about an hour, Anderson said.

Frick said 154 gallons of gas spilled out of the pump after an unidentified male allegedly dropped the nozzle on the ground and drove off.

“Somebody else pulled up, saw the gas on the ground and told the police,” Frick said.

Police planned to review additional security footage sometime this week.

The Manson Police Department and Manson Fire Department responded.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office at (712) 297-7583.
