A Fort Dodge man was transported to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Saturday after a two-car collision in rural Carroll County that left four people injured.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, Tyler Mattingly, 26, of Fort Dodge, was driving a 2008 Dodge west on 170th Street near Falcon Avenue when the vehicle crested a hill and was left of the center lane, striking head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet driven by Brandon Kramer, 29, of Lanesboro, who was driving east on 170th Street.

Mattingly’s vehicle came to rest in the north ditch, while Kramer’s vehicle rolled over once and came to a rest on its wheels in the south ditch. The incident happened around 12:40 p.m. There were four injuries reported from the crash.

Mattingly was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines by helicopter.

Two passengers were also not wearing seatbelts and were transported to the same hospital by helicopter — Jacob Lawler, 25, of Wall Lake; and Jordan Downs, 21, of Denver, Colorado.

A third passenger, Aubri Roper, 22, of Paton, was also not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll by ambulance.

It is unclear on the crash report which vehicle the passengers were riding in.

According to the crash report, distracted driving is a possible factor in the collision. The investigation by the Iowa State Patrol is ongoing.
