1 dead in head-on collision
ISP: Driver crossed center line before striking semi
ROCKWELL CITY — One woman is dead following a head-on collision between a car and semi near the intersection of Iowa Highway 4 and 220th Street in Calhoun County Tuesday, according to Iowa State Patrol crash reports.
Rose Kallemeyn, 28, of Jackson, Minnesota, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash was reported at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Kallemeyn was driving a Pontiac Bonneville northbound around a curve. At the same time, a semitrailer was being driven southbound around the curve by Gary Hayes II, 56, of West Des Moines.
Kallemeyn’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck the semi head-on, according to crash reports.
The Iowa State Patrol reported that Kallemeyn was ejected from the vehicle. Hayes was uninjured.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Iowa Department of Transportation, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Rockwell City firefighters, Lytton firefighters and Calhoun County Emergency Medical Service.
