The frame of the future Discount Tire location near the former Sears store by the Crossroads Mall is taking shape. The store is set to open in August or September 2021.

A new Discount Tire store location is currently underway just off of Fifth Avenue South, near the former Sears store location at the Crossroads Mall. According to a company spokeswoman, the store is set to open around August or September 2021 and will employ 10-12 team members. “We chose Fort Dodge for many of the same reasons we choose to open any new store,” said Tim Russo, Discount Tire’s real estate strategy development manager. “Fundamentally it’s a great market with enough demand to exceed our financial requirements. … Most importantly, though, it allows for a manager to realize his or her dream while building the community in Fort Dodge with nearly a dozen great jobs for the local community.” There are currently five Discount Tire stores in Iowa — four in the Des Moines metro and one in Mason City.
