Target confirms employee positive test

Public relations for Target Corporation confirmed one employee at the Fort Dodge store tested positive for COVID-19 this week.

The confirmation came in response to a Messenger inquiry sourced from a current employee. Management at the Fort Dodge location has not publicly acknowledged the case. The employee, who was last in the building on June 24, has been quarantined according to public health guidelines.

Management notified some employees of the contagious viral case through the phone, and others through “in person huddles,” according to one Target employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

“After learning about positive cases, we also work quickly to deep clean and sanitize the store, which is the recommendation of public health experts,” said Danielle Schumann from Target’s corporate communications team. “We’re also providing all of our store and distribution team members with masks, gloves and thermometers, upholding rigorous cleaning routines, installing partitions at checklanes in stores and employing a variety of social distancing measures.”

In addition to requiring employees to wear masks, Target cleans all checkout lanes between customers. Company policy provides paid leave for employees who contract COVID-19.
