Man assaulted in FD

UPDATE: A 52-year-old man was assaulted Tuesday night in the 500 block of South 15th Street, according to the Fort Dodge Police Department.

The man appeared to have been shot by at least two rounds with a suspected flare gun, police reported.

After firing the flare gun at the victim, the suspect struck him with an unknown instrument before fleeing the area.

The victim was transported to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

One man was transported to the hospital Tuesday night after reportedly having been shot.

The injury was reported at about 8:41 p.m.

Fort Dodge police and firefighter/paramedics were called to 527 S. 15th St.

Once there, paramedics treated the patient on scene before transporting him to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center a short time later.

Police could be seen talking to several witnesses nearby. One of the witnesses appeared to show photo or video evidence to officers on his smartphone.

The extent of the man’s injuries were not immediately known Tuesday night.

The Fort Dodge Police Department continues its investigation.
