FD man arrested for shooting at a vehicle on Highway 169

An 18-year-old Fort Dodge man has been arrested after police say he shot at a vehicle while driving on U.S. Highway 169.

According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, at approximately 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dylan E. Reiter was driving northbound on U.S. Highway 169 near Avenue G in an SUV, when he pulled alongside another vehicle and shot toward the driver before continuing northbound on the highway and turning east onto Third Avenue Northwest.

Officers arrived in the area and found a vehicle matching the description of the SUV given by the victim. Officers then conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the 200 block of Hawkeye Avenue, ordering the occupants out of the vehicle without incident, police reported.

A firearm was located during the investigation at the scene. There were no injuries reported.

Reiter has been charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony; and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. He is currently being held in the Webster County Jail. He will make his initial appearance at 9 a.m. today in Webster County Magistrate Court.

The FDPD is continuing to investigate the incident. The department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa motor vehicle enforcement officers.
