No injuries in rural Webster City structure fire
WEBSTER CITY — No residents were injured in a house fire in the 1200 block of 180th Street in rural Webster City Monday morning.
Webster City, Woolstock and Duncombe fire departments responded to the single-family structure at approximately 10 a.m. Monday. Though no injuries were sustained as the owners weren’t home, two cats and two dogs perished in the fire.
Chief Todd Bingham of Duncombe Volunteer Fire Department said the structure was most likely a total loss, with extensive smoke damage throughout the home after the fire was extinguished.
Minutes after Duncombe firefighters arrived, he said flames broke through the kitchen window.
“We did an aggressive attack, and Webster City (firefighters) entered quickly,” Bingham said. “We saved more of the structure to get keepsakes out of there.”
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
