Dawn Thrams, left, and Rachel Smith, title teachers at Cooper Elementary School, carry out a sunshine basket from the school to be delivered to the Steve and Juli Springer family. Juli Springer is the school nurse at Cooper. Her husband, Steve, is battling stage four esophageal cancer. “The family is very special to us,” Thrams said. “They are such a great couple and so well thought of in all the Fort Dodge schools.” Staff from the school is also planning to deliver meals twice a week to the family. “Juli doesn’t have time to cook and that gives them more time with Steve,” Thrams said. The sunshine basket included a wide assortment of snacks and candy. Thrams said the first-grade team came up with the sunshine basket. “We hope it will bring a smile.”
