In response to the continued COVID-19 public health emergency, UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center announced on Thursday that it has postponed additional non-essential services.

Those services, which will be postponed until further notice, include the following departments: Diabetes Center, Sleep Center, Outpatient Therapy Services (PT, OT, Speech, and Lymphedema), Infusion Center, Wound Center, Respiratory Care, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab.

“UnityPoint Health is actively contacting patients impacted by this change,” said Troy Martens, chief operating officer of UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. “Services our health care team identifies as urgent, emergent and medically necessary will continue to be provided.”

Martens said the health and safety of patients and team members is always the top priority.

“We believe that taking this step now, is in the best interest of all, and will help us further concentrate on making sure we have adequate equipment and supplies during this challenging period,” Martens said.

In other business, the hosptial is limiting its valet services, according to Alyssa Stanek, senior marketing communications specialist for UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge.

Until further notice, the valet team will not park patient or visitor cars.

The valet team will continue to provide wheelchair assistance when needed, Stanek said.

“This is to protect our visitors and valet team from possible contact, as well as transmitting, the COVID-19 virus from one vehicle to another, and each other,” Stanek said. “Patients may be dropped off at the Main Entrance or Entrance B, a Valet team member will be there to greet and provide a wheelchair if needed.”

Entrance C will be closed.

“We know this may be an inconvenience, but the safety for our patients and team is very important to us,” Stanek said. “We look forward to being able to offer valet services again.”
