Police assist suicidal woman on Karl King Viaduct

Fort Dodge Police Department officers talked a suicidal woman down from the ledge of the Karl King Viaduct shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Lt. Joe Bates described the woman as initially “despondent,” and later “spunky” as officers succeeded in persuaded her not to jump. The woman was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center afterwards for a mental health evaluation.
