Moms support group hosting event today
The Moms Support Other Moms support group is hosting a Friendsgiving today in the Artist Warehouse in the Crossroads Mall.
Social hour starts at 4:30 p.m. followed by a prayer and dinner at 5:30 p.m.
Group founder Jordana Price said the event, the first for them, is for everyone.
“It’s open to the community,” she said. “We often help at the shelters. It’s about giving those who might be homeless a warm place to come. We have flyers at all the shelters. It’s for anybody in the community.”
The group is dedicated to moms.
“We’re here as a support group in general for moms,” she said. “People can ask for advice or if they need help with anything. We hold monthly socials with our kids and some just as adults.”
She was inspired to form the group with co-founder Shelby Milligan.
“We realized there was no support groups for regular moms,” she said.
Their gatherings have included a variety of activities; making hair bows, cookie decorating and even an evening of “Mom Cocktails.”
The event is a potluck event. Price said that there will be plenty of food but anyone who can, may bring a dish to share.
The event is free.
