Supervisors finalize Dakota Access Pipeline completion

Webster County Supervisors on Tuesday passed a resolution recognizing the completion of the Dakota Access Pipeline, for purposes of landowner petitions.

The pipeline, completed on May 15, 2017, was required per Iowa Code to be recognized as completed by supervisors for landowners petitioning for potential damages arising from construction.

Though there are currently no issues that have been communicated directly to ISG Engineering, according to county inspector Evan Del Val, the current punch list does not include items that might have been identified with the Dakota Access Pipeline.

“ISG Field Services is recommending that the Board of Supervisors in all 13 counties that we represent make the final determination that the project be considered complete,” Del Val wrote in a July letter. “By doing this, the landowners will be allowed to proceed with the County Compensation Commission process for items that they feel need to be addressed.”

Closing out the matter, ISG Field Services will no longer be responsible for inspection in Webster County.

Resignations

Supervisors accepted the resignations of the following staff: Rita Carlson, clerk for Human Resources, Planning and Zoning; Alison Lorest, clerk for the County Assessor’s office; and Megan Douglas, 1st Five Development Support Specialist with Webster County Public Health.

Abatements

Supervisors approved the transfer of a county-held tax certificate for the property at 620 S. 15th St. to the city, with abatement for more than $56,000 in taxes.
