Bridal show now bigger than ever

Event will be held Sunday at Briggs Woods Conference Center

As it enters its 11th year, the North Central Iowa Bridal Event offers more opportunities than ever for couples tying the knot to tie up some loose ends in their wedding planning, according to Cory Bargfrede, director of advertising for The Messenger, and planner of the extravaganza.

This year’s event, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Briggs Woods Conference Center in Webster City, offers over 40, in fact, with more vendors than ever before.

But if the wide array of DJs, reception venues, bridal shops, florists, catering companies, limo services and travel companies wasn’t enough of a reason, maybe the prizes will catch your eye.

Brides and grooms to be can enter to win thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. The Messenger and Daily Freeman-Journal are offering three cash prizes. One lucky winner will win $500 and two others will get $250.

Other prizes up for grabs include a honeymoon vacation package valued at $2,000, a Mojo Production DJ package valued at $1,200 and a coffee table from Mikos and Matt valued at $600. A variety of door prizes and giveaways will be offered by vendors, too, in the one-stop shop.

For anyone planning a wedding, waiving those expenses is a welcome concession amidst a bombardment from the myriad of expenses that go into the happy couple’s big day.

“It’s so different from what we’ve done before, with more vendors and a good diversity of different products,” Bargfrede said. “The show will be pulling vendors from all over the state with its new location convenient to Highway 20 and I-35 in Webster City.”

“We’ve really increased our reach,” he said, in pulling together a number of vendors that appeal to a wider audience.

Grooms who attend are also welcome to play nine holes of golf for free at the adjacent course while their partners shop, thanks to Briggs Woods Conference Center, 2501 Briggs Woods Trail in Webster City.

Entrance is $5 for brides. The wedding party, including family and friends of the bride, gets free admission with the bride. The entrance fee includes a vendor punch card for a variety of prizes.
