Community Block Party invites public

Clinic celebrates National Health Center Week

Community Health Center of Fort Dodge invites families to celebrate National Health Center Week with free child dental exams and sealants, physical exams and immunizations, in addition to food and fun this week.

“The national theme for the 2019 Health Center Week is ‘Rooted in Communities,'” said Renae Kruckenberg, the center’s CEO. “We are proud to be part of the Fort Dodge community and celebrate this week by inviting everyone to join us at the block party. Our mission is to provide quality health care services to all.”

She said making sure the community is aware of the center’s services is an important part of its mission.

The block party will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in front of Community Health Center, 126 N. 10th St.

“There will be plenty for families to do,” said Regina Suhrbier, outreach coordinator for the center.

The Webster County Pork Producers will be grilling, and kids can have fun with spin art, sidewalk chalk, life-size Jenga, the Joy Mobile and the Fort Dodge Fire Department smokehouse.

“There are really too many to mention,” Suhrbier said, thanking Fareway, Party Productions, Hy-Vee and Northern Lights for their support. “Many organizations are joining us that evening.”

The event is part of a national campaign that aims to highlight affordable health care provided by health centers in communities.

The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge opened in 2006, followed by a 2014 satellite clinic opening in Dayton. In 2016, the Fort Dodge location expanded exam rooms, dental labs and behavioral health services to continue offering primary and preventive care for all ages.

The clinic offers acute appointments daily, comprehensive dental exams and treatments as well as psychiatric medication management and therapy services to all residents, regardless of insurance status. A sliding fee scale is offered for those without insurance who qualify.
