Sweet corn harvest has been in full swing in southern Webster County starting late last week and continuing this week. Here a corn picker sits at the end of a field owned by Dan and Janet Nordin east of Gowrie on Monday, while the crew waits for empty trucks to arrive. The sweet corn is being hauled to Owatonna, Minnesota, to Lakeside Foods Inc., a food processing plant. Approximately 1,000 acres of sweet corn were raised this year in the Gowrie area.
