Three found dead in Bancroft home

DCI investigating; officials say no ongoing threat to public

BANCROFT — Three people were found dead in a Bancroft home Friday morning, according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

Officers with the Bancroft Police Department responded to 524 S. Morehouse St., a short time after 8:13 a.m. when it was reported that two people were found deceased.

When officers arrived, they found a third deceased person.

All three bodies found were adults, according to Special Agent in Charge Mike Krapfl, of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

Their names were not released to the public on Friday.

Officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

On Friday evening, Krapfl said it was still too early in the investigation to say whether or not foul play was suspected.

The Bancroft home’s listed owner is Joseph Schiltz, according to the Kossuth County assessor’s page.

The DCI is handling the remainder of the investigation.

Krapfl said additional information is likely to be released on Monday.
