A train struck a male lying on the tracks in Fort Dodge early Friday morning, killing him.

First responders from Fort Dodge Police Department and Fort Dodge Fire Department arrived at the scene south of Leah Lane after the call, which reached the Webster County Telecommunications Center at approximately 4:25 a.m. Medics pronounced him dead shortly thereafter.

Initial investigation indicates the victim was lying near the traveled portion of the railway as the train approached from the west. Further development is expected soon in the investigation.
